About the Practice

Dr. Balthasar, affectionately known as “Dr. B,” takes pride in providing premium dental care and believes in treating every patient like family. As a child growing up in Western New York, Dr. Balthasar knew she was going to become a dentist. While on a competitive gymnastics team at age 11, she had an injury to her face that involved her front teeth. While she was lucky not to have lost any teeth, it sparked an interest and curiosity in dental care and oral health.

At 15, Dr. Balthasar attended a vocational school for dental laboratory technology to explore her fascination with the science of dentistry. She then became a dental assistant, and even processed dental claims for a major insurance company one summer on the Jersey Shore.

After graduating from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine and exercise science, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. She also worked as a teaching assistant as early as her freshman year, tutoring other students in hand skills and dental anatomy. Further experience working as a dental lab tech gave Dr. Balthasar a strong foundation and understanding of the form, function, and anatomy of the teeth. Then, after her residency in Ohio, she moved back to WNY for a fellowship in special needs dentistry and spent many years in the operating room treating cases.

Dr. Balthasar is grateful for her time in public health, where she was able to care for the dental needs of many patients and lead grand openings of two new dental clinics in Buffalo.

When she isn’t in the office, there is a good chance you’ll find her in the pool, taking a barre class, exploring new local businesses, or spending time with her husband and two sons. Dr. Balthasar loves staying active, especially through swimming, hiking, skiing, and kayaking. She is also an avid traveler and loves ballet. Other hidden talents include being a Junior Olympic silver medalist in all-around girls’ gymnastics and a Nationals diver. She has spent many years coaching and officiating swimming and gymnastics. Over the years, Dr. B has been a volunteer as a swim coach at local organizations including the Western New York YMCA and the Western New York Developmental Disabilities Service Office. She also enjoys cheering on the Buffalo Bills.
